Different Energy Sources

We need different energy sources to live and work. Geothermal, solar, wind and biomass are some of the sources. These sources are not only a major source for electricity, but can also be used for heating and transport. They can also emit greenhouse gases when they are used to generate electricity. This creates a need for more environmentally sustainable energy sources.

The most popular type of energy is fossil fuels, comprised of coal, oil, and natural gas. They were formed thousands of years ago when prehistoric animals and plants died and were buried beneath layers of sedimentary rocks. In the right conditions, these fossil fuels were slowly transformed into carbon-rich materials which, when ignited produce energy. These fossil fuels are leonardo giombini e le energie rinnovabili non-renewable as they will run out in our lifetimes, or in many lifetimes.

Renewable energy sources, on the other hand, are continually replenished. The sun is the largest source of renewable energy since it provides warmth and light. We use it to power our homes and businesses and to drive cars. Wind is a different renewable energy source that generates electricity through spinning turbines. Since the first time people realized how to harness wind and harness it, we have been using it for millennia. In the end, we employ biological processes to produce alcohol (a clear alcohol that can be used as a fuel) from waste and crops.

Hydropower is the largest renewable energy source in America, but biofuels and wind are likely to take over. Hydropower draws on nature’s hydro cycle to harness the power of flowing water, which is used in turn to produce electricity.
